Our Active School Committee


The Active School Flag (ASF) initiative is a Department of Education and Skills initiative (DES) supported by Healthy Ireland (HI) which aims to get more schools, more active, more often.
Last year our school was awarded our first active flag, awarded to schools which strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community and we are exceptionally proud.
The Active School Flag (ASF) initiative provides schools with a framework to guide, support and incentivise them to work towards achieving the above and once awarded the flag remains valid for 3 years.
The committee comprises of:
- ASF Coordinator: Ms. Moloney
- Other Staff Reps: Mr. Casey, Ms. O’Brien & Ms. Smith
- Lead ASF Members (6th Class pupils): Amelie Everitt, Ella Bonny, Goda Kereviciute & Sarah Clancy
- Class Rep (Infants – 5th Class): Manasvini Giridhar, Cadence Regan, Mirah Mjumbi, Hannah Whelan, Samantha Gavare, Aoibhin Beresford, Emily May, Evie Groves, Edna Gebremichael, Maddy Hannon, Amelia Barrett, Lily Cussen, Libby Joyce & Hazel Cussen.
The committee will work together with teachers, parents and local agencies to enable the whole school community to become more physically active.
The pupils on the active schools committee have been given leadership roles:
- Playground leaders
- Active line leaders at the end of break
- Keep the P.E. store neat and tidy
- Make sure all the equipment in the P.E. store are placed in the correct baskets/boxes
- Carry out surveys
- Report any messages back to their class teachers and classmates
- Organise and help set up equipment for Sports day/ Active Hallowe’en, Active Christmas etc.
- The 5th & 6th class leaders also attend meetings.
