Principal Update as @ 28th Feb 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you are all doing well. The sun is out—maybe not quite time for the BBQ just yet, but we can dream!! Here are some important updates for the week ahead:
- Attendance Strategies:
I’m pleased to inform you that the Board of Management has approved a set of new attendance strategies aimed at improving overall attendance and punctuality across the school. These strategies are designed to support students in making the most of their learning opportunities. We will be keeping you updated on our progress and look forward to seeing positive results in the coming weeks. We will upload these strategies to our website soon!
- Book Day – Thursday, March 6th(Cosy Clothes):
We are excited to celebrate Book Day this Thursday! It’s a wonderful opportunity for our girls to celebrate their love of reading. Our whole school will take part in a book project—One School, One Book. The idea is that great stories travel and speak to us, no matter our age. We’ll have appropriate activities at all levels and are looking forward to active participation from all students.
In addition, we invite all students to bring in their favourite book to share with their class. Those who wish to participate can dress in their most cosy clothes—tracksuits, fleeces, hoodies, fluffy socks, etc. The emphasis is on comfort, so students can wear whatever they like, as long as it’s warm and doesn’t hamper their participation in school activities.
- Seachtain na Gaeilge Events:
In celebration of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we will be hosting a series of activities to honor Irish culture and language. Our students will take part in various events that highlight Irish music, traditions, and, of course, the Irish language, including tráth na gceist, ceili mór in the yard, art competitions, Junior and Senior Concerts, and more. Stay tuned for more details on these exciting events throughout the week.
- Sports Activities:
We have a lot of exciting sports activities taking place in school:
- Golf: Students will have the opportunity to try golf and learn the basics of the game.
- Basketball Taster Session: Our basketball session helps students build teamwork and develop their skills.
- Yoga: Students are also taking part in yoga to promote mindfulness, flexibility, and relaxation.
- Tennis: Looking ahead, we will soon be introducing tennis sessions, which we’re very excited about!
These activities are aimed at promoting physical well-being and encouraging students to stay active while having fun.
- Anti-Bullying Survey:
Lastly, we kindly remind you to complete the anti-bullying survey that was sent out earlier this week. Your feedback is crucial in helping us create a safe and supportive environment for all our students. If you haven’t already completed the survey, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to do so - https://forms.office.com/e/ni19VYqcaQ
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and we look forward to two of our favourite events next week—Seachtain na Gaeilge and Book Day!
Le meas,
Karen Burke Logue
