Autism Class

At St. Colmille's GNS, we are proud to offer an Autism-specific learning environment within our mainstream school community. Our dedicated class for autistic children includes six students, a class teacher, and three Special Needs Assistants, ensuring each child receives the individual support they need to thrive. Our classrooms are designed using the TEACCH Model, featuring structured areas for individual learning, group work, play, and lunch. This approach helps create a supportive and predictable setting that fosters learning and personal development. In addition, we provide a Multi-Sensory Room equipped with fibre-optic lights, a bubble tube, mirrors, textiles, and mood music, allowing children to engage in stimulating activities or self-regulate as needed. The room also includes equipment aimed at developing fine and gross motor skills, supporting sensory processing, and preparing children for learning through both stimulating and calming exercises. As part of our commitment to inclusion, our students regularly participate in mainstream activities, creating opportunities for social integration and community engagement. At St. Colmille's GNS, we focus on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can reach their full potential.
